“There is no sincerer love than the love of food.” George Bernard Shaw

My name is SJF Bilton (Sam to my friends) and I am a food addict. I love growing it, cooking it and above all eating it.
Whatever I have been doing or wherever I have been going my hunger to experience new tastes or rediscover old ones has been at the forefront of my mind. I constantly think about food and I am probably at my happiest and most relaxed when I’m in my kitchen. My food is inspired by many things – the seasons, places I have visited, literature and food from our past.
Although my passion for food and cooking is deep rooted, I have followed a long and winding path to arrive at this destination of food writer and blogger. I have waited tables and marketed everything from life assurance to indoor air quality monitoring. I have also been fortunate to fit in a bit of travelling en route. Eventually, I took the plunge and went back to school to study an MA in Culinary Arts at the University of Brighton to kick start my career as a food writer. I am not a professional chef. The only expertise I can offer is my passion for cooking and food which I have in abundance.
I was born in Essex, England and I am hopefully living proof that not all Essex girls live up to the stereo typed bimbo in white stilettos with fake boobs (I possess neither of these items)! I have spent most of my life in Sussex where I still live with my wonderful husband Billy (who eats whatever I place in front of him) and my two foodies-in-the-making sons, Charlie and Alex (who are my harshest critics).
Thank you for stopping by and happy cooking!
